I happened to read an article yesterday @Psychology Today about the statistics of 'Loneliness'. It was interesting to note that the article interviewed a diverse group of people (including varying age + ethnicity + gender + accomplishments).

Anyone and anywhere could experience 'Loneliness' without having any socio-mental-or-other disorders. It's almost similar to 'Happiness', which could be experienced without having to undergo any radical joyous times. There will be moments of content-ness that could make you happy.

Our reaction could be to embrace 'Loneliness' like a monk or to tackle it like an athlete. Don't let yourself get drowned by it. You need to keep focused to never become overwhelmed by such feelings.

Gratitude | Count your blessings

Share | Talk to strangers

Love | Express kindness

Exercise | Releases feel-good endorphins

Enjoy | Treat yourself

Today, I came across another article related to suicide statistics here. The hard truth is that when we think of our problems as larger or more complex, it forces us to view our failure as final.

Been driving for awhile in California and finally reached the dreadful moment to get tested.

Although, DMV website has good information on all the details to get your driving license, I thought I'd give my account from what I've understood so far.

Please check out the process first on the DMV site incase it has changed over time. The experiences below are just to remind/help you if things go sideways.

Process:

The process listed below are for a non-citizen trying to apply for a California Drivers License.

Steps:

1. Schedule an appointment from DMV for your Written Test

2. Fill out the forms before your appointment. Make sure you have the relevant documents
3. After you've cleared your written test, schedule your Behind the Wheel appointment
4. Practice all that has been described in the Drivers Ed/DMV Videos before the actual test
5. Give the test and wait for your drivers license

Appointments:
1. Try to get the appointment by calling the Toll Free number for the written Test.
2. You need to get the first appointment for the "Office Visit" to complete the Written Test.
3. Clear the Written Test to get the Temporary Permit (printed paper) having the License no.
4. Now you can get the Behind the Wheel Test appointment.

Written Test:
1. Prepare by going through the Drivers Handbook
2. Take a few sample tests online
3. Practice the rules

DMV Test:
1. Review the Drivers Handbook
2. Learn to drive calmly in various conditions- residential, commercial, weather conditions etc.
3. Practice the route near the DMV that you plan to take your test from
4. Documents: Car Insurance, DMV Registration, Temporary/Instructional Permit
5. Need to drive your own car. If used then please familiarize yourself well.

Personal Experiences:
These are personal experiences which may help others to avoid certain problems.

Appointment:
-You could get your appointment online but it does not show up when your search for it after the date/time slot has been allocated.
- I finally called the toll free number to confirm the appointment for the booked slots. Its easier to have them call you back rather than wait in the queue.

Written Test:
- Initially I thought that the rules are simple and can be learnt easily. The only way to know the rules well is to practice them.
- You could also go through the practice tests for the last few years to gain the required confidence of taking the test.
- When I took the test at the Santa Clara DMV, they had provided us with Touch Screen machines to take the test. Its quite simple and easy to use the setup.

Permit Type:
- Please try to avoid the Instructional Drivers Permit which mandates that you drive with someone holding a Permanent Drivers Permit.
- You need to get your Temporary Drivers Permit if you have an International Drivers license or a license from your country of origin.

Behind the Wheel:
- Try to drive as confident as you normally do and at the end of the experience try to be calm no matter what the outcome. You have 3 tries to get your license.
- I received the 'Unsatisfactory' result when I tested for the license the first time.
- I've yet to go for the next test, but I believe it would be good to drive a few practice runs with another driver who has gone through the driving test.

For the last couple of weeks, I've been putting off writing some quality articles largely due to work related tasks. I've been so immersed with 1 thing that I've not really thought of any other task.

This brings us to the topic of effectively managing multiple dimensions of our life without letting each of them suffer. What is your core mission ? If you can answer that probably you would be able to prioritize and say no to the ones that matter less to you.

I've realized that this is what has happened within my subconscious.
The Harlem Shake is the funniest dance trend so far in 2013 similar to the Flash Mob & Gangam Style dances.

What to Expect in Harlem Shake Meme ?
For the first 5 seconds : Everything looks normal
For the next 15 seconds : Sudden dance by one of the actors without any inhibition,
For the next 15 seconds : There is a breakout by all the actors into a stream of random dance acts.
Its would appear like a bunch of crazies looping over the same set of actions for the next 15 seconds.
Another Flash Mob that was interesting from Persistent Systems 2012 Pulse Event (previous company).

Intially I'd used Flash Mob at the Pulse Event 2012 as the main video view, the more I see such events, I've noticed that the video capture & editing makes a great difference to a well choreographed mob. As a serious writer for the past few months, I've been dealing with a very common issue.

How do I use content - articles or images off the internet with proper attribution ?

In fact its a given, that its safe to use content under an open license for mixing with your content.

I still remember an instance when I used an image url from philip greenspun's site without proper attribution and resulted in a weird image loading up after several days. This was a program driven content filter that possibly checked for certain details before sending a standard un-called image.

Ever since that incident, I ensure proper attribution for images are included without offending anyone. I typically include a "References or Credits" section at the bottom of the article to attribute the original content properly.

You may not be the best writer or photographer and may want to re-use some available community content under an open license like Creative Commons. But what does it mean when it says attribution-required !

Make sure you understand what attribution-required content sites imply.

I've been telling Jenny recently that I've become addicted to blogging. I keep processing a lot of events with the perspective of a blogger. Some times it bugs Jenny !!

What can I share with others ?

Famous captions, funny one-liners, Understated pics.

Anything meaningful and informative that can help others.

Stuff I can write-up in order to be used later.

Maybe thoughts that my family & friends can appreciate.

The only explanation that I have at this moment is that writing is addictive or blogging is ?

I'm hardly bothered by the audience that reads the content. It just helps me write better if I know its getting published on the web.

The one motivation that I have is the simple post from 2007 on Howto apply for an International Drivers Permit in Pune.

The article was written in a fit to help other drivers and since one did not exist with complete information on how to get it done yourself.

The helplessness I felt at the hands of the Driving school folks can only be emphasized by writing a good article.

Here's to assert the need for everyday bloggers who can help pass-on valuable know-how !!

After creating a bunch of blogs on blogger.com , creating a new entry on the wordpress.com blog site. The reason for this, is an itch that I’ve suddenly felt.

Well written / visualized article on maintaining multiple blogs effectively. I for one, think there are multiple advantages to keeping your topics on separate blogs.

Have been slowly becoming more productive writing my thoughts on a variety of topics on blogs instead of paper and its environment friendly too !

Creating a blog to manage topic-wise content happened on a whim since it felt better organized.

Why writers need multiple blogs ?

It almost feels like I'm writing a book of thoughts pertaining to a set of hobbies or interests that could fluctuate over time. Slowly, I'm observing a small pattern emerge from the whole process of containing the writing into their own identities.

For now the urls are all sub-urls within my own domain, but I've checked the availability of individual domains (on impulse again) just to see if it fits into the broader plan.

I'm treading a very thin line of creating content and formulating a long-term plan/goal together. Don't want to end up changing the footer every day instead of adding proper content.

I've created this snippet with the sole prerogative of initiating & collecting data on forging multiple signature blogs without indulging in the headaches involved.

Trivia :

"When Mahatma Gandhi’s died , Ravi Shankar, then in All India Radio had to play mournful music on the national radio broadcaster. Drawing from the name Gandhi, he took the three sargam notes that approximate it—“Ga” (third), “Ni” (seventh) and “Dha” (sixth)—and developed a new melodic theme. He called this new raga Mohankauns, since it was similar to raga Malkauns. He later used the same raga as a refrain in his score for Richard Attenborough’s Gandhi. "

Looking at how to embed creative commons images to the blog without discrediting the original creator. Found this valuable article - Guide: How to Use Creative Commons Images from Flickr that discusses a good solution to link images which considers the 3 rules of creative commons license.

Quick Steps
1. Search for the Images from Flickr's Creative Commons section.
2. Copy the url and paste it within ImageCodr to get the final HTML embed code compatible with CC license.
3. Add the HTML embed that validates the CC license terms.
